SLIDE FURNITURE AND LIGHT - THE LIGHTNESS OF A MODERN INTERIOR DESIGN MANUFACTURER

Italian brand Slide likes to describe its products as ironic. If one may speak of ironic in the case of practical, artistic, versatile and imaginative furniture, lighting and interior design objects, one can happily leave it at that. If you look at the ingenious combinations of furniture and lighting, such as the Slide Snack Bar counter, the Slide Soft Cube stool, or the Slide Ed table, you realize that there's more to the design than just function - ambiguity right up there with the definition of irony. But even their figurative objects could be viewed with a wink: The Slide Baby, Slide Honey, Slide Kokò, Slide Pure or Slide Buddha lights even have a hint of pop art: artistic decorative objects, lights and eye-catchers all in one. All this is made possible by the use of the characteristic Slide material: each object is made of polyethylene plastic and shaped by rotation, being 100% recyclable and produced in an environmentally friendly way. Slide has thus developed the patent recipe for an idiosyncratic way of modern interior design and is now continuously expanding this success.

MADE IN SLIDE: DISTINCTIVE MATERIALS AND FINISHES

The slogan Made in Slide refers to the fact that all the manufacturing processes take place within SLIDE srl, based in Buccinasco near Milan: from design to production and finish. The young team of about 100 employees looks at these manufacturing processes with pride: the characteristic material that characterizes the design is the simple plastic polyethylene, molded by rotation. This technique brings versatility, and the signature of several well-known designers and artists can be found in the shapes of Slide products. Other advantages of the material are good quality and high durability, in addition, the everyday objects are easy to clean and maintain. Since almost all Slide products also light up, they have minimal necessary wiring and are very easy to install. Slide records another feat of design through the use of color, be it colored light or the colorful finish of the plastic covers.

SHAPING MASTERS: KARIM RASHID, MARCEL WANDERS, PAOLA NAVONE

Slide products get the ultimate polish thanks to their intellectual creators: well-known Italian and international designers are responsible for the designs. Karim Rashid designed the striking Slide Rap sofa, which is available in the most vibrant colors, as well as the unusually shaped Slide Koncord barstool and Slide Blos armchair. Slide entered into cooperation with Marcel Wanders for the organically shaped Slide Chubby series and the Slide Bachus bottle rack. Italian architect and designer Paola Navone designed the archetypal Low Lita chair. Other renowned talents, such as Marc Sadler, Alessandro Mendini or Stefano Giovannoni also entered the design service at Slide.

ILLUMINATED FURNITURE FOR INDOORS AND OUTDOORS

Among the most popular products from Slide are undoubtedly the illuminated furniture, such as the table Slide Kubo Inox or Slide Kubo Plexi, the imposing lounger Slide Rococo, the Slide Light Drink side table, the table Slide Arthur or the armchair Slide Kalla. Also seductive are the outdoor products from Slide, which make garden or terrace colorful bright. These include the large plant pots called Slide Il Vaso, Slide Bench Pot Light, Slide Star or Slide X-Pot. Simple and effective is the Slide Twist chair, extraordinary the idea behind the luminous swing Slide Swing Lamp, which works with a rechargeable LED strip.

MONOLITHIC AND EFFECTIVE - SLIDE GLOW

Whether indoors or outdoors, Slide luminaires skillfully attract attention. Their monolithic structure ensures the greatest possible radiance, as in the case of the Slide Globo Geoline-Out luminous spheres, which can be conveniently planted in the ground via a ground spike, or the Slide Globo ST floor and table lamp. Simple and effective is also the floor lamp of one cast, Slide Fluo. And if you want to have your Christmas tree always glowing instead of evergreen, reach for the Slide Lighttree. Slide also has some pendant lights in its repertoire: the star-shaped Slide Sirio Hanging or the archetypal curved Slide Cupole, last but not least the futuristic pendant light Slide Ufo or the circular Slide Sunday give the interior a modern, playful character.

SLIDE - A VERSATILE COMPANY MADE IN ITALY

A young and aspiring company clearly also has the characteristic of being versatile. So the company, founded in 2002 by Giò Colonna Romano, is also constantly opening up new business areas related to its products. Since 2007 there is the SLIDE Events, a service company, for private or business events. In the end, the luminous counters Slide Snack Bar, Slide Jumbo Bar or Slide Jumbo Corner are perfectly used in the all-round organization. In 2011, SLIDEart, a dialogue project between designers and contemporary artists, was launched. This produced unique works of art that could be admired at the "Sign Off Design" exhibition on the occasion of the 54th Venice Art Biennale. Last but not least, the little luminous penguin Slide KoKò ensures support for the "Penguin Foundation" and its work in favor of endangered penguins. Kokó SmART was the name of the successful campaign in which artists, writers and young talents from the design, art and fashion scene designed the cover of the friendly KoKò. The latest project also puts Slide products in the spotlight and lets their effect on us humans unfold up close: The SLIDE Café in the center of Milan will be a showroom of a special kind.
